The weathered and metallic appeal of the Cor-Ten Steel façade does give the lovely residence a uniqueness that draws your attention instantly even as the rest of the house embraces a far more familiar contemporary style.
It is the view outside filled with rolling hills the sight of bright city lights after sunset and endless greenery that defines the pavilion-style upper level of the home where glass walls redefine the indoor-outdoor dynamic. Designed by Obra Arquitetos it is the dining room spacious living area and a classy kitchen in black and white that make up this floor.
The revitalized ground floor now features a smart entry reception room kitchen and a Japanese-style home office / sitting zone that overlooks the garden outside. Large sliding glass doors bring in a flood of natural light even as a lovely white backdrop gives the interior a refined look that borders on minimalism.
Move to the front and the distinct and dark external piers give the street façade a unique identity that lets it stand out from its neighboring structures. With living space that is separated from the large kitchen and dining area by a double-sided fireplace the interior uses as few partitions as possible.
On the lower level there is a beautiful living area that seems to flow outdoors into the barbecue zone along with the dining space kitchen family room and laundry. It is the second level that houses the four relaxing bedrooms bathrooms and a study / home office.
The ground level houses the bedrooms while the kitchen and dining room are nestled on the second floor with the living space placed on the top level to give those inside the best possible views. Combining nostalgic past with modernity and personality this is a cabin that definitely is unlike any other we have ever come across!
The new homeowners of this post war two-story house wanted a contemporary interior that was breezy devoid of unnecessary partitions and featured a rear extension that offered additional living space. Scenario Architecture accomplished this by creating an open sitting area on the lower level with just a fireplace wall separating the reception area from the kitchen.
