A live-edge dining table brings textural contrast to a distinctly contemporary backdrop with wooden shelves adding inviting warmth. On the outside a 3000-square-foot terrace and rooftop retreat provides a private getaway that is visually connected with the smart home office inside.
Perched atop a steep hilly site in São Paulo makes the most of the unique position it occupies and ensures that the landscape around it ends up being the showstopper at this expansive and open contemporary residence.
Designed by David Howell Design the luxurious penthouse is spread across three spacious levels and is nestled on top of a building with an original cast iron façade – an iconic image in itself!
It is the view outside filled with rolling hills the sight of bright city lights after sunset and endless greenery that defines the pavilion-style upper level of the home where glass walls redefine the indoor-outdoor dynamic. Designed by Obra Arquitetos it is the dining room spacious living area and a classy kitchen in black and white that make up this floor.
Move to the front and the distinct and dark external piers give the street façade a unique identity that lets it stand out from its neighboring structures. With living space that is separated from the large kitchen and dining area by a double-sided fireplace the interior uses as few partitions as possible.
A new master bedroom with ensuite a second bedroom home office bathroom and separate laundry were accommodated by simply doing away with unnecessary partitions and realigning rooms inside the house. The star of the show though is the new open plan living area with kitchen and dining space that extends outdoors thanks to the large spotted gum deck and a lovely garden it overlooks.
